K.N.P. Nambisan, the second son of Late poet and founder of Lalitha Kalalayam, Shri Nelluvai K N Nambisan, popularly known as Lalitha Kalalayam Nambisan.
He had his early lessons of Chenda at a very tender age from Late Ashan Kuttan Marar and had the premier audition at Nelluvai Dhanwanthari Moorthy Temple way back in 1965. Thereafter, he learned Mridangam Thrissur P Appu Iyer and his noted disciple guru Eranellur Narayana Pisharody; Maddalam from Aashan Thichur Sankunny Nair and legends like Peruvanam N Nambisan maternal uncle taught him the secrets of the rhythm; Dance from guru kalamandalam Sundernarayan and Carnatic vocals from eminent vocalist guru Nelluvai Krishnan Kutty Marar. Later on, playing Edakka, Pakhwaj, Thavil, Ghatam and Ganjira...
He has created a musical Jugalbandhi - Carnatic - Hindustani using 7 Ragas, 7 Thalas, in which he single handily played 7 percussion instruments and other accompanying artists on Sitar, Violin, Flute, Mourning and Tabla.
He, handles Lalitha Kalalayam, Bombay in his full capacity and has had produced and directed more than a dozen dance ballets and performed several times in & out of Mumbai.
Erstwhile President Dr. S Radhakrishnan and Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma as well as for Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi have had presented medals to Mr. Nambisan for participating on the Republic Day parades and celebrations. As noted percussionist residing in Mumbai, he had privilege to have rendered his expertise to noted film personalities for their individual audition and to the industry as well. While hailing his mastery in holding the audience spellbound through excellent rendition, like Prof. Dr. Chummuar Choondal, scholar of Folk Art research of Kerala had supplemented his title "Thala Vadya Shilpi" in 1991. Ironically, though he has been promoted the traditional art forms of Kerala, neither the Kerala government nor any of it's academies had identified his contribution so far. The Maharashtra government had certified him as a recognised artist. He had accompanied as a nartist in many foreign countries several times.
Lalitha Kalalayam Nambisan who has special bias towards the famous dictum "IT IS BETTER TO DIE THAN TO BE DEVOID OF ART", is a professor of Nalanda Nritya Kala, Mahavidyala, affiliated to Mumbai University.

"National Centre of Performing Arts (NCPA), Executive Director says "To gain mastery over so many different instruments is in itself a remarkable achievement, and to use all of them single-handedly in an orchestral program to create melodious music is even a greater achievements. This is what Shri Nambisan accomplished in the presentation of Sapta Raga Tala Vadya Tarangam".
